Entries and exits
The connector holds one position at a time per chart.
When the entry happens#
Under Entry & Reversal, Entry Timing is Signal Bar Close by default. Next Bar Open waits one bar, which gives an external stop plot time to print a level. Entry Price Source sets the price the stop and targets are projected from.
What a new signal does#
| Setting | Options | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| On Opposite Signal | Reverse Position (default) · Ignore Opposite Signal | Reverse flips the trade. Ignore drops every signal while a trade is open. |
| Reverse After N Opposite Signals | 1 and up | Opposite signals needed before a flip. Raise it to ride out one-bar noise. |
| On Same-Direction Re-Signal | Re-Enter (default) · Ignore Re-Signal | Re-Enter starts a fresh trade with a new stop and targets. |
A flip or re-entry reaches HookTrader as one entry alert, so the close and the new trade cannot arrive out of order. History shows the close as a reversal or a re-entry.
Close on an exit plot#
Set Take Profit Mode to Indicator Exit when the indicator that gets you out is not the one that got you in. Inner targets still take their partials, and the stop and trail still apply.
Under Indicator Exit, wire Long Exit Source and Short Exit Source. Arm Exit Signal After TP # holds the exit until that target prints; 0 arms it at entry. In Threshold mode, the exit conditions work like the entry's. To close a long when RSI crosses under 50: Long Exit Source = RSI, Crossunder, Level 50.
With Highlight Signal Bars on, long exits shade amber and short exits purple.
When the exit can never fire#
A red banner on the chart means no exit source is wired, or both exit conditions are Off. Only the stop closes the trade then. An arm level above your number of targets never arms, with the same result.
The config hash#
Entry Timing, Entry Price Source and On Opposite Signal move the plan, so they change the chart's hash. HookTrader shows the difference on the strategy's Config row. The two gates only change whether an alert fires, so they leave it alone.
