Paper or live

A paper account trades simulated money on live Binance or Bybit prices. A live account trades your Binance balance and needs Solo or Pro and two-factor authentication.

Create a paper account#

On Exchanges, click Create account → Paper account and pick the exchange it follows. The balance starts at 10,000 USDT. Your plan sets how many paper accounts you hold, across both exchanges.

Bybit is paper only for now. A strategy on a Bybit paper account names its symbol up front, with no auto-lock.

Reset balance in the account's Settings panel keeps trade history, and the Funding tab records each reset. You cannot reset while a trade is open.

How paper differs from live#

  • Every paper fill pays the taker fee: 0.05% on Binance, 0.055% on Bybit. Your live rate may be lower with a fee discount or VIP tier.
  • Paper pays no funding. A live position held across funding times pays or receives it.
  • A paper market order fills at the best bid or ask, whatever its size. A large live order can fill worse.
  • Liquidation is modelled from the account's leverage and margin mode. On Bybit the maintenance rate follows the risk-limit tier, so a larger position liquidates sooner.
  • Refusals match the exchange: too little balance, an order under the symbol's minimum, or a stop already through the price.

A strategy that is only just profitable on paper can lose money live.

Move a strategy to live#

First watch it on paper enter, take targets, move its stop and exit. Then connect a Binance account and create a second strategy on it. Or move the paper one with More actions → Change exchange account….
